The BAMF informs: On 15 July, the focus week for the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) begins within the framework of the REAG/GARP 2.0 application processing

10 July 2024

The next focus week for the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) begins on Monday, 15 July, 2024.

From Monday, 15 July, 2024, to Wednesday, 24 July, 2024, applications from the following countries of origin in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) will be processed more intensively: Egypt, Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.

Please note that the current focus week for Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus ends on Wednesday, 17 July, 2024.

As part of the so-called focus weeks, REAG/GARP 2.0 applications from certain regions will be processed more intensively on a weekly basis. At the same time, the priority cases (according to the applicable prioritization criteria) and other applications for the other regions will be processed in the usual way. The aim is to reduce a larger number of older cases from this region in chronological order through increased staff deployment and close cooperation and communication with the application-submitting bodies (AÜS's) than would be possible without focus weeks.

So that as many cases as possible can be processed conclusively within the respective focus week, we ask AÜS's in particular who have already submitted applications for the countries of origin mentioned to be prepared for short-term queries and notifications from the REAG/GARP 2.0 application clerks and, if possible, to answer these promptly. In order to ensure that the application processing runs as smoothly as possible, it is helpful if AÜS's respond to the flight booking suggestions in particular at short notice (preferably within one working day) and, ideally, cancel applications for which there is no longer a desire to leave the country early.

All AÜSs are informed about the start and end of each focus week by email and via a news message on ReturningfromGermany. There you will find a summary of the measure and the schedule on the REAG/GARP 2.0 subpage in the login area.

If you have any further questions about the focus weeks, please feel free to contact us via the functional mailbox RG2.0-Info@bamf.bund.de .

We thank you in advance for your cooperation!
