REAG/GARP 2.0

The BAMF informs: Extension of the REAG/GARP special regulation for Turkey until 30.06.2025

The federal and state governments have jointly decided to temporarily adjust the funding criteria and amounts for departures to Turkey. This measure is initially limited in time until 30.06.2025 with the option of extension and applies to applications for the destination country Turkey with a date of receipt from 01.07.2024.

Adjustment of the funding criteria for Turkey as of 01.07.2024
As of 01.07.2024, only returnees to Turkey who have stayed in Germany for at least six months can receive reintegration assistance. The date of application is decisive for proving the length of stay.

To determine the length of stay, the entry stamp on the visa (if available) is used for the beginning of the calculation period, as is the case for rejected asylum seekers, the apprehension report, the date of issue of the proof of arrival, or the initial registration in the Central Register of Foreigners (AZR). The date of application is used for the end of the calculation period.

Persons with a stay of more than six months in Germany:
Persons with a stay of more than six months will continue to receive regular REAG/GARP funding, including GARP assistance (1st Start-up Assistance). These individuals can also continue to apply for StarthilfePlus funding (2nd Start-up Assistance) and EURP benefits.

Persons staying in Germany for less than six months:
Since 01.07.2024, only travel expenses and a travel allowance of EUR 200.00 per person (EUR 100.00 per person under 18 years of age) will be paid for persons staying in Germany for less than six months. StarthilfePlus (second start-up assistance) and EURP benefits will no longer be available.

Persons with a stay of less than six months in Germany and reasonable suspicion of improper use of support benefits:
For applications with a stay of less than six months and further indications of improper use of return assistance, only travel expenses and a reduced travel allowance (according to section 2.4.3 in conjunction with section 4.2.2 of the REAG/GARP funding programme) in the amount of EUR 50.00 per person (EUR 25.00 per person under 18 years of age) will be granted. StarthilfePlus funding and EURP benefits are not available.
